New Land Trust Program Manager

MCHT is pleased to announce that they have hired a new Land Trust Program Manager. Warren (Whit) Whitney has accepted the position and will begin in that capacity on February 22nd. The position was previously held by Megan Shore, who left Maine Coast Heritage Trust in October to join the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation.

Whit is an ideal successor for this important position at Maine Coast Heritage Trust. He comes with a strong land trust background, having served as executive director of the Friends of Merrymeeting Bay land trust for 3 years, and having gained direct experience with a number of key MLTN partners through his experience as Community Outreach Coordinator, and then Associate Director of Development here at MCHT (totaling 7 years). In addition, Whit’s collaborative management style and warm personality will be a key asset in his role as MCHT liaison to the MLTN steering committee, and his other responsibilities as Land Trust Program Manager. Throughout the application process Whit demonstrated that he understands the scope and complexities facing the Maine Land Trust Program, and that he has the skills and instincts to meet the challenge with enthusiasm. Whit is passionate about land conservation and is equally passionate about enjoying the outdoors, especially cross country skiing, hiking and canoeing.

One of Whit’s first stated priorities will be to get out and meet with members of the land trust community in the coming months.
