2018 Maine Land Conservation Conference
March 22, 2018, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Samoset Resort, Rockport
It’s the 35th anniversary of the event, and at the same time, Maine is at a crossroads in several ways. Next year, we will elect a new governor for the first time in eight years. After a major recession, business in the State is rebounding and development is happening at a pace we haven’t seen in quite some time. In addition, land trusts are branching out, getting involved in their communities in new ways, and pushing the envelope of what land conservation can mean. These things, taken together, cried out for a different approach – something that would honor the incredible successes of the past but also provide an opportunity to plan for the future, and help us prepare for the challenges ahead. We don’t know exactly what that will look like right now, but we have a conference planning team in place and design work is underway. If you have ideas, thoughts or feedback on this, please reach out to Donna or Whit. In the meantime, we hope you’ll save the date on your calendar and plan to attend this special event.
