Maine Farmland Trust

Crew Leader (part time/seasonal)

About Veggies For All

Veggies For All (VFA) is a 2.5-acre food bank farm in Unity, Maine, that addresses hunger in our community through sustainable food production, gleaning, and hands-on education. We raise about 20,000 lbs of organically grown vegetables for 1,500 food pantry clients in 25 towns across Central Maine each season. This summer will be our 10th season, and we’re excited to welcome a Crew Leader to our seasonal staff to help us keep up the good work!

Job Description

The Crew Leader position is geared toward someone with a baseline of sustainable farming experience who is interested in developing their leadership skills on a small-scale, mission-driven, production-oriented vegetable farm. The Crew Leader will work closely with VFA’s Program/Farm Manager and the rest of the VFA crew and be responsible for facilitating farm tasks whenever the Farm Manager is not present. The ideal candidate has had at least 2 seasons of experience working on ecologically-minded vegetable farms, works well independently and as part of a team, and is capable of making an immediate contribution to the crew.

On our end, we expect to provide a supportive, educational, and rewarding experience that can serve as a valuable stepping stone for a young farmer looking to take the next step toward proficiency in small-scale food production.

Veggies For All is a program of Maine Farmland Trust, a statewide non-profit that protects farmland and supports farmers.

Compensation: $12.50/hr
