Retail Sales Associate (temporary, part time)

Position Summary

Maine Audubon is a nonprofit conservation organization based in Falmouth, Maine, whose mission is to conserve wildlife and wildlife habitat by engaging people in conservation, education, and action. It is seeking an energetic, outgoing, friendly person to join our retail team. The Temporary, part-time, Retail Sales Associate will help support Maine Audubon Nature Store operations and guest services including retail sales, general visitor and volunteer assistance, and promoting our programs and events.

Activities and Responsibilities

> Provide a welcoming environment for all Maine Audubon visitors.
> Serve as a knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful sales associate.
> Greet every guest; offer them assistance.
> Advise customers by providing information on products.
> Help customer make selections by offering suggestions.
> Process payments by totaling purchases; processing checks, cash, and credit cards.
> Maintain accurate cash control.
> Balance daily cash drawer at end of shift.
> Restock merchandise as needed.
> Support store management by assisting with merchandise receiving and pricing as needed.
> Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
> Maintain standards of cleanliness by cleaning, organizing, and tidying on a routine basis.
> Maintain knowledge of Maine Audubon and its associated activities.

Qualifications and Experience

> Minimum 2 years experience in a sales related position preferred.
> High School Diploma or equivalent required.
> Superior customer service and communication skills.
> Ability to use computer based point of sale system.
> Ability to handle cash and receipts accurately.
> Flexible approach to work and schedule.
> Available for occasional evenings and weekends.
