Executive Director

Job Description

The Mahoosuc Land Trust (MLT) in Bethel, Maine is seeking a visionary leader as its new executive director who will implement its strategic plan and promote its goals of community conservation. MLT is a nationally accredited regional land trust, whose mission is to protect and conserve land and traditional land uses for the benefit of the natural areas and communities of the Mahoosuc Region. MLT was established in 1989; to date, it has protected over 8,000 acres of land by fee acquisition, conservation easement and collaboration.

The successful candidate will have proven ability in land conservation, strategic planning, and fund-raising, as well as the vision to build the Mahoosuc Land Trust into an organization that engages its community by listening and responding to its needs. MLT’s Strategic Plan contains the following goals which will make up the core responsibilities of a new executive director.

Goals & Responisibilities

  • Expand conservation of large connected areas, wildlife corridors, special places, and lands that support sustainable, economically productive use.
  • Practice exemplary stewardship of conserved lands that sets an example for long-term land management and public benefit.
  • Connect more people to the land and MLT’s mission, increase awareness of the benefits of balanced growth, and promote a conservation ethic.
  • Develop new educational initiatives with children and youth and demonstrate environmentally sustainable practices throughout MLT’s work.
  • Build MLT’s capacity, through fundraising and volunteer engagement, to advance the mission and achieve its strategic goals.
