Teens To Trails

Development & Events Coordinator

Teens To Trails is a charitable nonprofit working to engage Maine teens in the outdoors through its promotion of and support for sustainable high school Outing Clubs.  This non-exempt full-time position primarily involves fundraising to sustain the Teens To Trails organization & “friendraising” to seek out collaborative partnerships to support our programs. This position will publicly represent Teens To Trails among the many individuals, organizations, and businesses that support our work.  Reports directly to T3 Executive Director.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Highly detail oriented, strong oral & written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and attend some evening meetings in-person or via phone
  • Knowledge of special event marketing strategies, media and social media relations,, graphic design a plus
  • Comfort with managing budgets
  • Must be people oriented and willing to work with a variety of audiences including vendors, volunteers, event and media sponsors, donors, students, and the public at large
  • Creative and resourceful approach


This portion of the position will help set the strategic fundraising goals and objectives for the organization, working closely with Executive Director, staff, and board on implementation.  This will include cultivating new individual/business donors, stewarding existing donors, developing a major donor program, developing and executing new grant opportunities, and managing grant reporting.

Specific duties to include:  

  • Provide staff support to the T3 Development Committee
  • Oversee the fundraising plan, maintaining monthly goals
  • Organize and implement the annual appeal and other targeted fundraising appeals
  • Maintain and manage the donor database management system, Little Green Light, or other data management tools as deployed
  • Assist the Executive Director in major donor recruitment and cultivation efforts, including scheduling staff and Board Members for meetings with donors
  • Support the Executive Director and other staff in research, cultivation, tracking and reporting of foundation grants.
  • Oversee donor acknowledgement and stewardship in partnership with Executive Director and staff.  This will include interface with supporters through personalized phone, snail-mail, electronic, and in-person communication.
  • Work with ED and staff to identify collaborative funding opportunities with new or existing partners
  • Provide reports to full Board at quarterly meetings


This portion of the position will oversee the execution of our two signature events along with other events that may arise.

Specific duties to include:  

  • Coordinate, along with the committee chair, the Event Planning Committee meetings
  • Plan and execute our large events which includes managing all logistics, monitoring event budget, negotiating contracts associated with events, coordinating volunteers and vendors, developing a playbook for implementation of both events
    • Annual T3 Bow Ties & Bean Boots Gala & Auction (May)
    • Act as Festival Manager for the T3 Life Happens Outside Festival (August)
  • Promote events across platforms, including website, blog, save-the-date postcards, print & social media, e-newsletters & e-mailings
  • Attract media coverage through a variety of media outlets including radio stations, newspapers, magazines, websites, social media and television
  • Acknowledge all sponsors, auction donors, participants & volunteers
  • Gather feedback on success of events for planning of future events
  • Act as liaison between the Event and Development Committees
  • Provide reports to full Board at quarterly meetings

Additional Duties:

  • Support the Executive Director and other staff on administrative functions as needed and assigned
  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
