Development Assistant

Location: Falmouth, ME

The Development Assistant administers gift and grant processing and acknowledgements and assists with membership, recurring and matching giving programs within the Development Department. The person in this role is responsible for processing data effectively and processing all gifts received with corresponding timely acknowledgements, and generally supporting efficient administration of the development office. This position is hourly up to 40 hours/week.

 Gather and sort daily mail and prepare checks for the Finance Department to deposit; make copies for donor files or other files that require special attention as needed; notify appropriate development staff of incoming gifts requiring additional attention.
 Prepare and process timely and accurate batches in Raiser’s Edge for cash, check, credit card charges, online donations, and monthly recurring gifts.
 Merge, print, and send gift and grant acknowledgement letters, membership cards, and other correspondence to Maine Audubon supporters;
 Help ensure smooth and timely transfer of electronic gift batch information to Financial Edge;
 Work closely with and at the request of the Database Manager to support the integrity, maintenance, upkeep, and accuracy of all data in Raiser’s Edge;
 Assist with development-related tasks for organizational events, including preparation, logistics, execution, and attendance as requested;
 Support efficient administration of the Development Department, including file and office organization, meeting scheduling as needed, and member and public interaction as requested.
 As requested and in coordination with the Database Manager, prepare appropriate documents and reports for monthly reconciliation with the Finance Department.

 College degree preferred.
 Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
 Performance record of timely and accurate completion of tasks and projects.
 Ability to represent Maine Audubon’s mission, goals and philosophies with the highest professional standards.
 Hands-on experience and proficiency working with donor database products (ideally Raiser’s Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT, and/or other Blackbaud products).
 Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
