Summer Education Coordinator (part time)


The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, founded in 1985, is a successful land conservation organization committed to conserving the cherished landscapes, rich natural resources, outdoor recreational opportunities, and traditional land uses of the communities of Brunswick, Topsham, and Bowdoin, Maine. Thanks to a dedicated Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and nearly 1,000 members, we have conserved more than 1,500 acres of land, including 17 miles of public trails.


Brunswick Topsham Land Trust is seeking to hire a coordinator to run our educational programming for children this summer. This role consists of overseeing and implementing a recurring series of educational programs at a Summer Feed site and working with community partners to develop outings to Land Trust properties. A Summer Feed site is a location where meals are offered to disadvantaged children when the Free and Reduced Meal Programs are not available.


  • Running weekly garden and nature based educational activities during Summer Feed
  • Designing and leading some of the activity curriculum
  • Setting up and breaking down weekly activities
  • Working with BTLT partners to coordinate collaborative activities
  • Coordinating field trips with children to Tom Settlemire Community Garden (TSCG)
  • Supporting and working with TSCG staff on educational activities at the garden
  • Run outdoor activities for children on BTLT properties
  • Identifying an individual from the Summer Feed site who can act as a summer education assistant and work with BTLT to hire them
  • Create a course binder for the educational program
  • Working with BTLT and partner organizations to assess the program and suggest changes for the 2020 educational program


  • Physical abilities required: ability to stand, sit, bend at waist, lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Passion for environmental or food systems work
  • Experience working with children

This is a part-time, seasonal, position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week from May through August of 2019.
