Building Confidence in Your Volunteer Stewardship Program

This full day stewardship workshop offers stewards an opportunity to strengthen their organization’s stewardship practices and learn about current issues in caring for conserved lands. Throughout the day seasoned stewards will share their knowledge and draw upon the experiences of the audience to problem solve around common challenges. The morning session will focus on Institutionalizing Your Stewardship Program and will cover program structure, creating a paper trail, effective landowner communications, and ways to strengthen the connection between stewardship and land protection. The afternoon session will focus on current issues in stewardship including Invasive Plant Species, Rights of Way, Private Inurement, and Property Taxation. Participants are encouraged to bring other issues to the workshop for discussion.

Who should attend? Volunteer stewards and staff who work with (or seek to work with) volunteers. Attendees should have a basic understanding of stewardship practices and the related Land Trust Standards and Practices.
