Medomak Valley Land Trust

For several years in the mid-1990's MVLT sponsored a delightful piano recital by a retired professor of music at a state university, a summer resident of our community. These events were small and intimate, attended by perhaps twenty-five or thirty people, and did not bring in much net income after we paid for the wine and cheese.

One year it happened that our president was out of town and I got to make the introduction and say a few words about the land trust and its work. At intermission a woman came up and asked if Medomak Valley Land Trust was able to hold title to land. I replied,

This generous couple were not members of our land trust, did not know anyone on our Board, and did not even live in our primary service area. They liked what they heard about our work and felt that we were serious about land protection. This chance encounter resulted in donation of a 56-acre preserve with 984 feet of water frontage, and a continuing cordial relationship with the donors. Susan Alexander, Secretary
