Reports to: Conservation Director

Time: Part-time: 20hr/week

Seasonal May – August (flexible to schedule)

10-12 Weeks

Stipend: $20/hr

General Duties

Time will typically be divided between two projects. The first project is derived from a need of the organization and our protected properties. The optional second project can be based around your own interests and/or your academic interests and how they apply to our needs and properties. The second task must be approved by the Conservation Director. 

Qualifications

  • Tech savvy (i.e. navigate social media, canva, word and excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs 
  • Be able to directionally navigate using a map (physical or electronic) and compass
  • Be able to work well with others, including staff and volunteers 
  • Be able to help lead volunteers through required tasks
  • Be able to problem solve 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the project(s) agreed upon by the staff and intern. The position will be overseen by the Conservation Director. Direct supervision will vary depending on the project(s) agreed upon.

  • Communications
    • Signage design and implementation
    • Community based research 
    • Photography 
  • Land Stewardship
    • Invasive plant removal
    • Assist with trail maintenance 
    • Species identification
    • Assisting with reinforcing land boundaries (recon and marking)
    • Climate Change Effect Planning 
    • Woodworking (ie Bridges, signage)
    • Assist with property monitoring
    • Assist with field data collection
    • Assist with GIS & map design 
    • Assist with drafting management plans
  • Land Acquisition
    • Assistant Conservation Director 
    • Build up regional database of information on land
  • Administrative
    • Assist in event planning
    • Assist with grant research and writing
