Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking a dynamic individual to join  our team. Our innovative organization is creating new models for conservation services and  local collaboration, and we are seeking an individual with a positive, energetic personality,  excellent communication skills, and administrative experience. The position offers broad  responsibilities and the opportunity to assist with planning and program development.  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in conservation, natural resources, agriculture, business,  communications, or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an organized and productive employee  in a professional setting. 
  • Experience in administration including inter-agency communications, strategic  planning, statistical reporting, publicity, and public contact. 
  • Capable with current online communication platforms and social media and  website management on the Squarespace platform. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel (Office 365) are essential.  Proficiency in Publisher, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat are a plus. 
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evening or  weekend meetings and events. 
  • Must submit to and pass a federal background check. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Making occasional site visits to consult with landowners regarding natural resource  management, invasive control, and land conservation related topics. 
  • Planning and presenting conservation and resource management related workshops for small groups and schools. 
  • Developing new projects to further the mission of the District, organizing volunteers and staff, and pursuing grant funding. 
  • Planning and implementing public events and activities, such as our annual tree sale. 
  • Bookkeeping activities: expense and revenue tracking and financial reporting. 

This is a 20 hour per week position with a hybrid schedule of office and remote  time.
