Service Area

Our focus area includes Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo Counties, encompassing 24 towns and the 450 square miles of the Damariscotta Lake watershed, Medomak River watershed, and Sheepscot River watershed, along with their many tributaries.

  • Operate Hidden Valley Nature Center with 25 miles of trails on 1,000 acres and over 40 programs, 7,000 visitor days annually.
  • Conserve land from the headwaters of the Sheepscot and Medomak Rivers to the bays
  • Leader in protecting the water quality of Damariscotta Lake. Saved the lake from being choked out by invasive plant Hydrilla – from truckloads in 2009 to none found in 2018
  • The Sheepscot headwaters has a 19-mile contiguous footpath network, part of which is the route of the 46-mile Hills to Sea Trail, the second longest footpath in Maine after the Appalachian Trail
