Nature Connects is a monthly op-ed in the Portland Press Herald, created in collaboration with Maine conservation groups. This column, now in its second year, highlights inspiring conservation efforts across the state and the people behind them. Of course, conservation is about more than just protecting land—it’s also about education, community connections, climate resilience, working landscapes, and the challenges as well as the successes.
