MCHT Announces Round 2 of its Climate Resilience Conservation Fund

The Climate Resilience Conservation Fund supports permanent land conservation that safeguards natural climate resilience and reduces climate impacts on Maine’s land, waters and people.

Maine Coast Heritage Trust is pleased to announce the second Request for Proposals for the Climate Resilience Conservation Fund (CRCF). MCHT is accepting applications through May 18th, with grant decisions announced in July.

The Fund is open to land conservation organizations, federally recognized Tribes, municipalities, and state conservation agencies. Projects within Maine watersheds that drain into the Gulf of Maine are eligible to apply.

This past winter MCHT announced the first round of CRCF projects that together conserve critical marsh migration space, intact forests, coastal streams and wetlands. In this inaugural grant round, the CRCF advisory committee recommended $1.175 million to support six projects that contribute to the health of natural systems and the resilience of nearby and downstream communities.

Over the life of the Fund, MCHT will provide $4.1 million to land conservation projects as part of Resilient Maine, a $69 million NOAA-funded effort to protect coastal communities and environments from extreme storms, flooding and rising sea levels.

For information about the Fund’s criteria, guidelines and application process, please visit the CRCF website. Please also share the announcement with your colleagues throughout Maine. Contact Jennifer Melville, CRCF fund manager, for questions or help preparing an application.

We are grateful to all of you for your work caring for the lands and waters we all call home, and hope that this Fund will bolster your efforts in the years to come.
