Wildlands as a Conservation Tool: Why they Matter, How to Protect Them, and Common Challenges and Solutions

Wildlands are permanently protected areas where ecological integrity and natural processes are prioritized, with minimal human intervention. Often called wilderness or “forever-wild” lands, they support a range of conservation goals across Maine.
