Call for Proposals for the 2027 Maine Land Conservation Conference

Proposals are due Monday, November 9th, 2026. Submit your proposal here.

Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Maine Land Trust Network are excited to announce the call for proposals for next year’s Conference! The event will center on the work of tending to our communities, through devotion to place and a commitment to resilience.

As land trusts, we are caretakers of the land. It’s a noble responsibility AND it can be difficult and even thankless at times. There are tough decisions to be made and the job is never truly done. But that is the work of building healthy, vibrant, diverse, and resilient communities. The Maine Land Trust Network is a community, too — one that is best when we think collectively, learn together, and lean on each other; we all have things we can learn and we all have things to teach. In that spirit, we encourage you to ask yourself this question: What learnings, expertise, or experiences could you share with your peers at the Maine land Conservation Conference next spring?

Our precise plan for number and length of workshops is still under consideration. We hope to offer field trips (within reasonable travel distance from the Civic Center), workshops, and roundtables on both Tuesday and Wednesday, and we’ll have elements you know and love, like:
  • Land Fair on both days
  • A keynote session featuring a popular speaker and author
  • Tuesday evening reception & social gathering

Back by popular demand, we are inviting proposals for field trips, primarily on Tuesday, April 27. Field trips should be located no more than 30 minutes from the Augusta Civic Center. We do not anticipate providing transportation for field trips. Participants will provide their own transportation.

We welcome submissions from anyone with an engaging, timely, and applicable idea. When you submit your proposal, we’ll ask you what timeframe you think would best suit your workshop. Choose multiple options if you can be flexible! This information will help us firm up our schedule.

Proposals that incorporate diverse perspectives or inspire new approaches are especially encouraged. For questions, please contact us at . Thank you for your interest—we look forward to your ideas!

Submit your proposal here. We aim to let you know by January 8 whether your submission has been accepted. If you have an idea for a workshop you’d like to discuss with us, contact Donna.

Help us make next year’s Conference the best one yet!
