Board Boot Camp

We’re excited to be partnering with the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition and New Hampshire Land Trust Coalition to include access to a virtual Board Boot Camp!

Sessions will run for five Tuesdays, February 15th through March 15th from 6-7pm, and you can participate at no extra cost when you register for the Maine Land Conservation Conference before February 14th. (We do ask that you commit to attending at least 4 of the 5 sessions).

Boot Camp for Land Trust Board Members

This five-part series provides an orientation to unique elements of land trust work and important roles that Board members play. We will cover an overview of the work of land trusts (session 1), governance (session 2), financial management (session 3), land protection (session 4), and land stewardship (session 5).  Trainer Connie Manes will draw upon relevant Land Trust Standards and Practices for each session.  The first session will include an overview of the scope of land trust work and the local and national context, with state-specific information provided by MLTC, NHLTC and MLTN.  During the course period, Connie will be available to provide support to participants, via phone and email, to answer questions related to the course content.  There will be limited use of breakout rooms for discussion.  Sessions will be recorded (with the exception of time in breakout rooms) in case registrants miss a session and want to catch up.  Ideal for new Board members or any land trust board or staff members looking to refresh their knowledge!
