Introduction to Crucial Conversations

Mon., Oct. 4, at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

What is a Crucial Conversation?

A Crucial Conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. When conversations turn crucial, people tend to follow one of two ineffective paths: they either speak directly and abrasively to get the results they want but harm relationships, or they remain silent with the hope of preserving relationships only to sacrifice results.

This webinar introduces the Crucial Conversations concept and materials to the Maine Land Trust Network as a resource for building skills for high stakes conversations that advance conservation goals across the state. Backed by 30 years of social science, Crucial Conversations skills represent the standard in effective communication. In this introduction you will get an overview of the nine powerful skills for working through disagreement to achieve better results.

The MLTN is considering sponsoring a full Crucial Conversation course to members. This introductory webinar will help you decide if the full course is something that would benefit you in your conservation work.

Chris Feurt of the Wells Reserve, a certified trainer for the full course, will be our instructor.

This webinar is free but registration is required. Register now.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
