First Light is partnering with conservation attorney Rob Levin to offer an advanced legal training for non-native landholding organizations that are committed to Wabanaki sovereignty and land/access/resource return. This two-hour virtual workshop is designed to help committed organizations understand and navigate legal conditions around: offering land for return; making financial contributions to Wabanaki-led land care efforts; advocating for Wabanaki-led policies; rethinking conservation easements. This training is best-suited for staff at organizations who are involved in the legal or technical aspects of land tenure, grantmaking, and policy work.

Note that this is not an introductory workshop: little time will be spent on the “why” of land/resource return or working in solidarity with Wabanaki communities, so that deeper legal particularities of earnestly pursuing the work of return can be addressed.

Please reach out to if you have questions about this workshop.

To register, email . We will share your email address with First Light and they will send you the Zoom link to join.
