L.L.Bean Grants Support Stewardship Efforts Across Maine
During this season of giving, we want to highlight the generosity of our long-time partner L.L.Bean, who supports land trusts – and the people they serve – in every corner of the state. The L.L.Bean Maine Land Trust Grant Program started back in 2004 and has awarded more than $300,000 to land conservation groups since that time. The grant program is an invaluable source of support to MLTN member organizations, and grantees like Blue Hill Heritage Trust express their appreciation over and over.
“We are elated with the outcome of the project and have received positive feedback from users along the way,” says George Fields, Associate Director at Blue Hill Heritage Trust, which was awarded $3,500 in 2018 to build an age-friendly trail within central Blue Hill. “We are extremely grateful for the (L.L.Bean) funding, which enabled the project to come to fruition. (The trail) will be a new gem for the community.”
This November, the L.L.Bean Grant Program awarded $12,750 to support stewardship related projects at five Maine organizations. Our congratulations go out to the groups that received funding in this round:
- Crabtree Neck Land Trust
- Downeast Lakes Land Trust
- Falmouth Land Trust
- Kennebec Estuary Land Trust
- Loon Echo Land Trust
These funds will help build trails, write management plans, create maps, improve safety, and much more. Learn about the projects here.
We offer our deep thanks to L.L.Bean for their ongoing dedication to this work.
