Coastweek is a national celebration of our coastal resources, as well as a part of the one-day International Coastal Cleanup.
In Maine, the annual Coastal Cleanup is the biggest volunteer event in the state. In 2018, 591 adults and 774 kids volunteered and picked up 4,472 pounds of trash, cleaning 74.25 miles of waterfront. WOW!!!
The 2019 Cleanup is happening September 21st through the 28th. Anyone who would like to get involved can sign up to be a coordinator. Coordinators are responsible for organizing the cleanup in their chosen location. This includes guiding volunteer participation, advertising their cleanup, and disposing of the trash collected.
Maine Coastal Program will send coordinators an information packet containing data sheets, trash bags, instructions etc. Register your cleanup here. Contact if you have any other questions.
