State Launches Look Out for ME Campaign

Almost every land trust property has experienced unprecedented numbers of visitors over the past year due to the pandemic. Mainers sought places to recreate and be with friends to compensate for working and schooling from home and the disruption to normal life. Providing important places to unwind was an incredible benefit to the people of Maine, but all of us were also concerned about the stress on conserved lands.

MLTN initiated a series of press releases last spring, and then again in the summer, to encourage safe and sustainable use of preserves. We did this in coordination with multiple state agencies, manufacturers of outdoor gear and many others. This fall, concerned that many people who were new to the outdoors might underestimate Maine’s winter conditions, we introduced an additional round of statewide press to remind people to get outside safely in the winter months.

The State of Maine, building on these efforts, is putting its significant marketing and outreach capabilities into a campaign to encourage this theme of being safe while getting outdoors. The “Look Out for ME” campaign will include a toolkit that will help state agencies, private companies, nonprofits, and others distribute materials with this campaign’s themes.  You can visit their Look Out for ME webpage here

We’re pleased to help promote this campaign. By promoting the same messages as our partners in the State, outdoor gear manufacturers, and others, we’ll be doing our part to ensure that everyone gets outside safely during these challenging times.
