Key Facts
Since 1985, the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust (CELT) has preserved 845 acres of land on 31 separate parcels. These lands, some donated and some purchased, represent the varied ecology of our seaside town, including mature forest; open fields; sandy beaches; marshlands, ponds and streams; and working farmland.
- Supported by the contributions of over 600 members
- Four full-time staff support the work of 100+ volunteers and 14 Board members
- Long-running collaborations with the local school system include educational field trips, in-school programs, and (at least for the time-being) virtual presentations
- Other outreach includes community programs, a bi-weekly newsletter, and lots of online content, particularly since the onset of the pandemic
- Paint for Preservation, CELT’s only fundraiser, is a can’t-miss event, bringing 30+ juried artists to Cape Elizabeth for an annual wet paint auction
