Key Facts
The mission of the Pierce Pond Watershed Trust is to protect the wild character, natural resources, and scenic beauty of the Pierce Pond watershed, and preserve traditional public recreational use of the area.
During its first 20 years, the Trust successfully completed conservation initiatives leading to the elimination of development rights throughout the 12,000-acre Pierce Pond watershed (10,500 acres of land plus 1,500 acres of ponds) through multiple fee and easement acquisitions.
In response to ever-increasing pressures on the resources of the North Maine Woods, the Trust’s current focus is to permanently protect Pierce Pond from these potential threats through acquisition of all Pierce Pond watershed lands.
