MLTN Lunch & Learn: Fireflies, Land Trusts, and the Role of Firefly Sanctuaries

In this MLTN Lunch & Learn, Richard Joyce, Conservation Biologist with the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, explored the fascinating world of fireflies and the growing movement to protect them. Participants learned about firefly ecology, the conservation challenges they face, the Firefly Sanctuary program, and opportunities to contribute through community science initiatives like the Firefly Atlas. The session also highlighted how land trusts, conservation organizations, and local communities can play an important role in protecting and managing firefly habitat.
