- AMC’s Maine Woods Initiative uses an innovative and thoughtful approach to conservation that combines outdoor recreation, resource protection, sustainable forestry, education, and community partnership to permanently protect the landscape for future generations.
- AMC has permanently conserved 114,000 acres in the Maine woods on which there is over 200 miles of free to use recreational trails for the enjoyment of hiking, biking, gravel biking, canoeing, snowmobiling, back-country skiing, snowshoeing and more. Open to hunting and fishing as guided by Maine Inland Fish & Wildlife regulations.
- The Maine Woods Initiative provides world class destinations with three remote wilderness lodges that offer full-meal service and both free and pay-to-use campsites and shelters.
- AMC’s Maine Woods International Dark Sky Park, the first dark sky park designation in New England, conserves the last dark sky East of the Mississippi River.
- AMC brings an outdoor experiential learning adventure to every student in Piscataquis County plus one school in neighboring Somerset County.
