Welcome Back Megan Shore

The Partnerships & Public Policy department at Maine Coast Heritage Trust is pleased to be welcoming back Megan Shore. Megan ran the Land Trust Program for nine-years in the early 2000s before joining the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation. In both roles she shaped and grew the organizations and their programs, with a dual focus on organizational/sector health and the interconnections of people and place.

Megan returns to a new position at MCHT – Conservation Resilience Specialist – where she will work directly with land trusts to strengthen their capacity and advance the sector as a whole. Her work will primarily focus on inclusive community conservation, sustained collaborations and mergers, adaptive leadership, and organizational development and change management coaching and facilitation.

Megan grew up in the fishing community of Gloucester, MA where she developed a deep love for the ocean and commitment to community. After four years in the cornfields of Ohio, Megan returned to New England and has since called Maine home. Through her career in the nonprofit sector she has worked to uplift the interconnected well-being of people, place, and animals. Megan returns to Maine Coast Heritage Trust after fifteen years with the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation, where she most recently served as Policy & Strategy Director.

“Today, I see conservation as part of the interconnected whole – playing a critical and evolving role in the health and well-being of human, plant, and animal communities – in relationship with one another,” says Megan. “I see so much opportunity in conservation and the conservation community to work alongside others for communities and places that are truly thriving.”

Megan is honored to be mother to two young adults – both of whom are bravely creating their own paths. Dogs, hiking, playing on and in the ocean, reading, and sharing meals with friends nourish her outside of work.

Megan is delighted to be back and is looking forward to connecting with you. She’ll be working full-time out of our Topsham office, and you can reach her at .
